am the master of the above junk which left
TUNG KUN (not on chart on 18th August, 1940,
at 15.00 hours bound for Hong Kong. Altogether there were six
persons on board.My cargo consisted of 305 bundles of sugar can
valued $150.00.
About 21.00 hours on 18.8.40 my junk was sailin
about 100 yards to the east of LIN TIN Chinese Territory Long.
113 48' E. Lat. 22 25′ N. I saw a Japanese motor boat come out
from LIN TIH. When the motor boat was a short distance away a
machine gun was fired at us. No person was injured. The motor
boat then came alongside my junk. Three Japanese, two dressed
in khaki uniform and one in white boarded my junk. They were
armed with truncheons. We were all assaulted with the
truncheons. My junk was tied up to the motor boat and towed towards TAI SÍAN Bay Long.113 51' E. Lat. 22 31' N. The three

炳 over to the motor boat with the cargo owner TAM PING.
PING. By means
of writing characters the Japanese asked where we were taking our cargo. We replied TAI (British Territory). The Japanese
then said "Do not take any cargo to Hong Kong or else they (Japanese) would cut off our heads". We were ordered to dump our cargo and then told we could sail away. My junk licence was also dumped over board. I sailed my junk back to TAI PING arriving at 18.00 hours on 19.8.40. My junk left TAI PING for Hong Kong at 16.00 hours on 21.3.40 and arrived in Hong Kong at 08.00 hours on 27.8.40. I reported to the police on 28.8.40 at
11.30 hours.
